Who are you, and what do you do?
We are Amara.com and was born from a high street interior shop back in 2005 when Sam Hood struggled to easily access designer interior brands whilst refurbishing her home. Her husband Andrew then became involved whilst on a sabbatical from banking and took the store online. We started with an ethos to provide the best possible service at all times and it is something we endeavour to reach every day!
What makes you unique?
We are the largest stockist in Europe of brands such as Missoni Home as well as exclusively hosting other brands such as Ralph Lauren Home. There isn’t another platform out there hosting the combination of brands that we have that are also in stock for potentially next day delivery.
When did the business start?
Amara was launched in 2005.
What inspires you?
Our buying team headed by Sam are inspired by new collections from our key brands as well as the independent and up & coming niche designers that they also look to promote.
Do you let trends influence the products you stock?
Yes, we are generally led by latest collections from our brands which a lot are fashion originated so we follow fashion closely as well as the top interior trade fairs and look for reoccurring key features that transcend into trends.
What is your greatest achievement to date?
Our growth is probably what people see as impressive, from a start of 4 members of the team we currently have 65 employees! For sales, we have incredible average growth of around 80% year on year but key is our customer service which we strive to maintain and currently our Feefo rating is holding at 97-98% this year.
What do you see as the future of your Company?
We have 8 dedicated overseas websites and we have seen amazing growth and today the US website generates 20% of our overall sales and that is with no set marketing strategy over there. We will roll out further websites over the coming year.
What else can you tell us about you?
Our gift list service is a small part of our business but also very important to offer what our customers want and expect from us as a leader in the retail interior business. Our service is truly unique and bespoke offering our all-important customer service.
