This is a wedding in two parts! When Elaine married Navin, they first had their Hindu ceremony, which we are delighted to feature. They are having a civil ceremony which we will feature online for you, just to complete the love story.
We didn’t want to wait, for part deux, as totally love the colours and tradition of the Hindu ceremony. We hope you enjoy this snapshot of their special day:
Where/how did you meet?
We met through mutual friends 8 years ago
Who proposed to whom and how?
Navin proposed. We were in Barcelona for our 7 year anniversary. He proposed by the beach after a romantic dinner.
Did you jointly arrange the wedding, or did you become a bridezilla?
We have our families to thank for helping plan the wedding, especially Navin’s family as they guided us through the whole process. Planning a Hindu wedding is very involved and we couldn’t have done it without them.
How did you decide what venue and why?
We fell in love with the venue 5 years ago when Navin’s sister got married there.
Which suppliers have you used and why?
The venue provided all of our catering, and decor, we provided everything else ourselves.
How easy was it to arrange your special day, did you find everything you needed locally?
We found most things that we needed in and around the London area, in particular Wembley and Green Street.
Was the day how you imagined, would you have done anything differently?
The day was just as we had planned. All of our family and friends made a huge effort to be there and really embraced the culture. It was a truly memorable day.
What music did you use, for the ceremony and your first dance?
We had a mixture of traditional Mauritian sega music and current chart hits to suit all guests. Our first dance was Pehil Nazar Mein by Atif Aslam
Where did you honeymoon?
We have not yet had a honeymoon as we are waiting until after our civil wedding. We have not yet decided on a location.
