Couples and their families and friends are invited to immerse themselves in the romance and excitement of the whole wedding experience and discover together which elements they’d like to include in their own special day. Held at the magnificent stately home Hatfield House on the evening of 29th October, guests will enjoy a catwalk show, followed by a champagne reception. This special and unique event aims to capture the charm and ambience of a luxury wedding and provides a welcome alternative to the impersonal nature of a traditional wedding fair.
The evening will begin with a stunning catwalk show profiling collections from 30 local retailers. Guests will be treated to an array of gowns from luxury brands and boutique designers, including Jenny Packham. Aimed at the stylish and discerning bride-to-be, the show will have an emphasis on cutting edge styles and the latest trends in bridal wear, accessories, hair and beauty.
Elegant lingerie and bridesmaid’s dresses will complete the bride’s wardrobe for the day allowing the groom to take centre stage with a show of men’s tailoring, followed by a display of guest’s outfits.
The story of the wedding in its entirety continues with a range of clothing for the honeymoon, from the plane to the beach.

The post-show reception
A champagne reception, courtesy of headline sponsor Kuoni, follows the catwalk show, where the splendour of Hatfield House becomes the star attraction. Different areas of the room will be styled individually to show the variety of themes and elements available. Stylists will be on hand to discuss the looks in more depth or offer advice on a bespoke, customised approach.
Guests can choose to speak to carefully selected service providers about the other elements of a wedding, such as flowers, stationary, cakes, photography, gifts and favours. Live beauty demos will be taking place, while at a sommelier bar, advice will be offered about the types of wines that compliment a wedding breakfast. Canapés created by local caterers will be served while wedding bands and performers provide the background music. John Lewis has recently partnered with destination specialist Kuoni and representatives from both companies will be available to answer questions about gift lists and that perfect luxury honeymoon destination. Kuoni is also offering one lucky couple the chance to win a luxury trip.
Part of St Albans Fashion Week
St Albans Fashion Week runs from 27 October – 2 November and includes a catwalk show within St Albans Cathedral on the evening of Friday 31 October. The Cathedral Catwalk boasts a 30m runway, making it the longest indoor catwalk in the UK. As well as the Luxury Wedding Event on Wednesday 29 October, a Luxe Fashion Show is being launched on Monday 27 October. Celebrating the fashion and elegance of the 1930s, the Porsche Centre Hatfield will be transformed with a live swing band and Martini bar.
During the week, numerous fashion and beauty events will take place in the city, which is only an 18 minute train ride from London. Visitors of all ages can be in vogue with a styling seminar and high tea run by John Lewis, a charity swap shop, pop up beauty and hair stations and a pop up barbers and bar. The event is held during half term week and childcare facilities will be available throughout the week, so mums can enjoy being styled and pampered too.
