There are so many places you can go for an engagement shoot. It’s only limited by your imagination! When this engagement shoot arrived in my inbox I knew it was perfect. It looks fun, different and has a real meaning to the couple.
Marissa and Mike’s love story started at the airport, so it was fitting for them to have their engagement shoot at one. We think it looks fantastic and very different to everything else we’ve seen! Thank you to Ailyn from Ailyn La Torre Photography for submitting this to us. We wish Marissa and Mike all the best for the coming months of wedding planning!
How long have you been together?
Marissa – “I’m from Tampa, Fl and Mike is from Pittsburgh, PA. We met at the airport on our way to Dubai, UAE in August 2012. Mike and I were on the first International Corporate Training team for The Cheesecake Factory. We had a long layover and after a couple of cocktails and a dare from one of my friends, I walked up to the quiet 6’4” tattooed man and said Heyyyyy! After that moment and a 17-hour flight, we’ve never been apart. The long hours at the busiest restaurant in the World, and the 5 weeks away from all our friends and family back in the states, we spent every night together talking and having the time of our lives.”
Tell us about your proposal?
“Mike proposed to me on 10th February 2015. We were walking our dog Macho on Bayshore Blvd and Mike got distracted by Dolphins in the Bay. Mike had gone left to the water and Macho going right barking at the runners so the easiest thing was to pick him up and carried him to the closest bench near where Mike was standing. Once I put Macho on the bench and turned around, Mike was on one knee, and I LOST IT! He had gotten me my DREAM Black Diamond and the EXACT ring that I had picked out 2 years prior. The first thing I did was look around and see if this was a joke he was playing on me, and then I said, “Holy Shit, is that thing Real?!?” and then of course, I said YES!”
Can you tell us anything about your wedding?
“Our wedding day is in October 2016. We are getting married at the HardRock Casino in Punta Cana, DR. We decided on a destination wedding because we met and fell in love in another country. In the 3 and a half years that we’ve been together, we have been to 8 different countries, and the Dominican Republic will be lucky number 9. Our wedding theme is vintage glam with a little twist of rocker edge.”
