I sit on a few photography forums so I can see who is putting the best work out in the UK and a couple of weeks ago I saw an image so stunning I contacted the photographer straight away to ask if we could feature. The lady in question was Kate Wooldridge who owns Optica Photo Ltd. Kate had posted a picture of a farrier, nothing unusual in that but the image was so strong I wanted to see what the story was behind it!
One very happy wedding editor discovers that this is a shoot Kate did with a gentleman called Richard Slater and it is part of a bigger couple shoot with his intended Anna Adams. I should point out that this couple did in fact marry this week so I am delighted to share these images with you from their engagement shoot, plus a few of the stunning farrier shoot.
Thank you to Mr and Mrs Slater for allowing us to share these; and to Kate for her stunning work! Make sure you look at the engraved horse shoes!!
On September 10th 2016 at 1pm Anna Nicola Adams married Richard James Slater at the Church of St Peter, Stoke-on-tern, Shropshire. The couple are both 30 years old and share many mutual interests. They were born in adjacent counties, just one day apart, both to farming families. Richard in Staffordshire and Anna in Shropshire.
Anna followed a long tradition in her family with a love for animals and horses in particular. She took to riding at a very early age and after enjoying pony club she started to follow hounds. From this she branched out into point-to-pointing with some success having 10 rides in all and always being ‘in the frame’ and enjoying one win. These interests gave her a circle of like-minded friends with whom she attended the North Staffordshire Hunt Ball, a yearly spectacle where many fledgling romances are born. Here she met Richard.
After starting his working life in engineering he took a career change to become a farrier. At this time his sporting interest was in boxing having 3 fights winning 2. All this was to change on meeting Anna. Her love of all things horses drew him to the hunting field. With a little help from Anna’s mother Nikki and the right horse their interest and love blossomed and 2 years ago they moved in together in Booley, Shropshire.
In December 2016 baby Marni arrived. Anna gave up her career in banking to look after the new arrival and she herself took a career change into breeding dogs something that ran alongside her busy life as wife and new mother. She specialises in Labradors and cockapoos.
Summer evenings are often spent in their lovely garden under their favourite tree with Marni surrounded by horses and dogs. After the ceremony a reception for 130 guests was held at the bride’s parents’ home. A saxophonist entertained as the guests arrived and a wedding breakfast followed. In the evening the guests were joined by a further 60 revellers to dance the night away to a live band. The groom was assisted by 2 best men and the bride by 6 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls and a page boy.
On behalf of UWM we hope you had a fabulous day!
