Today we are excited to showcase the gorgeous spring wedding of Kaitlyn and Chris. We love the muted colors of the wedding party alongside the bright vibrancy of the plants and greenery. This wedding simply oozes spring time! Plus, check out that stunning clear tent! What a great way to flood the reception with light and a way for guests to enjoy the stunning surrounding view.
From the photographer, Gideon Photography: “The typical Charleston love affair starts somewhere in a bar, but when Kaitlyn spotted Chris playing in his band, the sparks flew and never stopped. While she was the one to approach Chris, he was the one that couldn’t get enough. Chris knew within 6 months he wanted to make Kaitlyn his bride. So he bought the ring and held onto it for a nerve-racking 8 months until he had it paid off. During a romantic weekend getaway in Asheville, he made it official and the planning started immediately.
The wedding day arrived and the beautiful Legare Waring House was their backdrop for their big day. Kaitlyn and Chris had their first look in what Kaitlyn referred to as her “secret garden” and when Chris turned around to see his bride he couldn’t hold back his reaction. The remainder of the day went off without a hitch as they wed underneath the avenue of Oaks in front of their family and closest friends. Cocktail hour was held in front of the lagoon and then guests made their way into a clear top tent where they watched the first dances and toasts as the sun set behind the couple.
An array of delicious food was served by Café Catering and the guests were then surprised with a Pittsburgh style cookie table and cake pops that were to die for. Kaitlyn had displayed several cards and words of advice from her 3rd grade students that had her guests giggling. One of her students wrote a personal letter of advice to the groom that read, “Make sure your hair looks good, so bring an extra comb. When you get up that morning make sure to bathe, brush your hair, and bring your wallet! Because you know how girls are about shopping right?” Another student wrote, “You must be very awesome for Ms Costello to love you. But remember, Ms. Costello is ALWAYS right! Also (as you already know) Ms Costello is a teacher and she can probably teach you a few things too.”
The highlight of the evening happened shortly after cake cutting as Kaitlyn exited the house and entered back into the tent to see her new groom with a guitar in hand surprising her with a serenade. He sang a beautiful song by Adele and then got the party started by having his best man/band member from Rawberry Jam (a local Charleston duo) join him for a few songs that had every guest on their feet going wild. Dj Breeze then took over the evening with the couple’s favorite throwback songs and there wasn’t a single guest sitting for the remainder of the night. Kaitlyn and Chris took off into the night with a glow stick send off and a permanent smile from what was considered the best day of their life.”
