When this wedding arrived in our inbox, we fell in love! Not only is it absolutely beautiful, but it’s also full of modern style inspiration for summer weddings. We couldn’t wait to share this with you all!
Nicole and Ricky’s wedding took place at Notely Abbey, Buckinghamshire. We hope you love this wedding as much as we loved putting this post together. Enjoy!
From the bride, Nicole: “Our wedding was held at the gorgeous Notley Abbey. Part of the Bijou Weddings Group. Notley Abbey was literally exactly what we were looking for. An exclusive hire venue complete with high ceilings, stone walls and history to go with it. Notley Abbey is the complete balance of modern glamour and timeless features. I felt absolutely fine on the run-up to the big day and nobody expected me to cry but as soon as we pulled up to the venue I couldn’t hold back the tears. Ricky has always been the more emotional one of the two of us but we were both overwhelmed by the love and romance of the day.
For the ceremony, we had all live music performed by a pianist on a grand piano, cellist and a sax player. I walked down the aisle to an instrumental cover of Latch by Sam Smith. We then had a singer, sax and pianist for the rest of the day. They played live music for the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and up to the first dance. For the first dance, we danced to a live cover of The One by Kodaline. We then had a DJ for the evening.
My dress was Martina Liana – 775. I changed the dress slightly by having the sweetheart neckline lowered and the lace lined and I also added 2ft to the train. This style was what I had in mind from the start so when I tried on the dress I knew it was the one. I also had a custom-made cathedral veil.
Rick wore a black tuxedo which was a wedding gift from me. We designed the suit together and added personal details to it including our initials inside the jacket and the wedding date on the cuff of his shirt and Just Married under the collar.
The Groomsmen also wore Black Tuxedo’s teamed with a black and white dogtooth waistcoat and black tie. All of them had Rose Gold cufflinks and tie clips as gifts to tie in with the wedding theme.
I struggled for a while to find any bridesmaid dresses and then I stumbled across the Vera Wang collection. I was spoilt for choice but when for blush pink maxi dresses with strappy back detail.”
