1. Don’t book your consultation too close to your wedding date.

• Give yourself plenty of time to experiment bridal styles with your hairstylist.
• I suggest booking your hair consultation and trial at least two months prior to your big day.
• Who knows, maybe you'll change your mind on your style because you found a trendy updo on Pinterest that you are dying to try!
• The two-month window will provide adequate time to find the right stylist and try different styles until you land on the picture-perfect look for you.

2. Don't cut or color your hair within two weeks of the date.

• Hair dye typically takes about two weeks to settle with your natural oils.
• Touch up your roots and your color about two to three weeks before getting married.
• Avoid a drastic change!
• Don’t stray too far from your current color and don't chop off too much of your hair.
• I highly recommend trimming your ends two weeks prior so your hair will look healthy.  If you plan to color and trim your hair, be sure to also trim and dye your hair extensions as needed.

3. Don’t neglect your hair!

• Maximize your hair strength, texture, and shine by giving your locks some love a few days prior to your wedding.
• Hair masks can moisturize dry hair, illuminate shine and intensify your hair color.

Try this: DIY hair mask 3 days prior to your wedding day:
Step 1. 1 Egg (protein repairs weak hair strands and promotes healthy hair)
Step 2. 3 tablespoons of coconut oil (adds shine and hydrates dry, damaged hair)
Step 3. 1 teaspoon vanilla (for a silky smooth shine)
Step 4. 1 plastic shower cap
Step 5. Mix the contents in a bowl.
Step 6. On clean dry hair massage the contents into your hair focusing on your roots and ends.
Step 7. Pin your hair in a top bun and cover with a plastic shower cap for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
Step 8. Your hair will be soft, shiny, and most importantly, healthy.
Step 9. The coconut oil conditions your hair and adds ultimate shine and the egg protein strengthens weak hair.

4. Don't overheat your hair and avoid buildup.

• With all the bridal occasions leading up to your special day, like your bachelorette party and rehearsal dinner, I'm sure you'll want to look your best and may be tempted to apply heat to your hair to style it.
• Give your hair a break from the heat in the days leading up to your wedding.
• Hot tools, like a flat iron, curling iron, and blow dryer, can actually dull your hair and damage your ends.
• You'll want your hair to look its best, so cool it with the heat.
• Also, avoid using too much product in your hair during your wedding week.
• Product can build up over time and weigh your hair down or cause it to look greasy or oily.

5. Don’t wash your hair the morning of your wedding.

• Unless your stylist advises you otherwise, do not wash your hair the morning of your wedding day, especially if you are styling your hair into an updo.
• Hairstyles, specifically updos, hold best with day-old hair.
• If your hair is too clean it may not hold a curl and can be resistant to hot tools.
• Wash your hair the night before your wedding to prep for the next day.
