Your love story
We met in a club when Sanja’s smile caught Ivan’s attention while passing by on her way out of the club. In order to get out faster, her friends gave Ivan her number in order for us to continue our conversation on another day.
Ivan was late for the first date but Sanja decided to give him a second chance and after a few days at the beach that summer a love story had begun.
Three years later, at the same beach, Ivan popped the question. A day before his 31st birthday and 3 days before our trip to Seychelles making the trip a perfect getaway from everyone’s curious questions.
What did you both wear?
We decided to wear Croatian designers at our wedding. Ivan wore a custom-made suit and shirt by Ivica Klarić and Strugar shoes and belt. I wore a wedding dress by Ivan Alduk and shoes by Alen Ledenko.
What venue did you choose?
We wanted to have the ceremony and venue in the centre of Zagreb because this is where I grew up and we spent most of our time in the City.
The ceremony took place in 360-year-old St. Roko church, a small church hidden in a park in the centre of Zagreb.
The reception took place in the Mimara museum. We decided on the venue after we visited a few locations, none of which were typical wedding locations.
Was the day how you imagined?
We have had the best day of our lives and would not do anything differently. Ivan was so excited he couldn’t sleep the night before.
I had my hair and makeup done in the morning and was ready for the guests who came to my house in the afternoon. Ivan came to pick me up before the ceremony and it was the first time he saw me in my wedding dress.
We drove to the church in an old convertible BMW. After the ceremony, everyone drove to the Mimara museum where cocktails were served and a guitar player played music.
After the first dance, the party started and the dance floor was busy until the early morning hours.
What advice would you give to other couples?
Don’t let anyone make decisions for you and don’t try to please everyone. It is your wedding day and you should plan and arrange everything the way you want it. You will never be able to please all your guests.
When the day comes, just relax and enjoy it. It will pass by so fast so don’t waste your time worrying about anything!
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
Right after the wedding, we went to Rovinj, Istria for our mini honeymoon. We spent a week there travelling around Istria and visiting wine cellars. During our stay in Rovinj, our photographer came for a photo session.
For the honeymoon, we went to Sri Lanka and Maldives.
